As soon as I started wondering why my life didn't turn out the way I thought it would, it got more interesting.

In early 2012 a friend told me my "Andy Warhol play I'll get around to writing one of these years..." needed to be done right away, so I started writing. The first volume of a sequel to 1975's The Philosophy of Andy Warhol: From A to B and Back Again was copyrighted in August 2013 and at the rate of about a book a year I've kept on writing. Twenty minutes into the first planning session for The Pope of Pop (the stage version of what I'm talking about), another friend joined the conversation and said, "No, no, you need to make it BIG", which is exactly what Andy would have done anyway. I could put up six sixty-seat shows at Indianapolis' annual Fringe Theatre Festival and be content-enough, but there's another kind of satisfaction that might look back at some point and say, "That was really well-done" - the best thing I ever did, maybe - because it was well-advertised, because it broadened the arts audience, because it allowed people from all walks of life to think differently about someone who has been a huge influence on MY life.

A week is made worthwhile by a well-written entry or insightful rewriting, supplemented by some kind of performance or writing or weird life experience that reaffirms my faith in people or at least causes me to ask, "WTF?" (I can usually count on the latter, so this works out fairly well).

There's other time, though, less-lucky-seeming, when I happen not to wake up with a dream in my head to wonder about and give a day its meaning, when I wonder if reading, writing and the arithmetic it takes to figure out if the exchange rate of time+labor for the reading and the writing will equal out at the end of the equation.

The day job keeps me in good shape for my age but it would be really fun to be back on a bicycle again.

The reading and writing is great but even smiling at strangers often feels like it's maybe just one step removed from something more.

There's nothing like the surprise of another person!

surprises - Keeping one's own life interesting may be all a person really needs. Anybody else whose attention is caught by this is interested for the right reasons. If they are keeping their life interesting too, shared interest in "interesting" may be all the compatibility necessary for whatever kind of relationship their pairing is meant to be.
