Widzę siebie jako osobę | 43/M/Glendale here! Pan/He/Him, and all that. Originally from Brooklyn, NY, I moved here with my father back in '99. So I'm pretty much a native Arizonan at this point. Just don't call me a "Phoenician" please, that's actually a long-dead civilization, if you didn't know... Anyway! I'm going to be totally up front here, I just recently got out of a 5-year long partnership, so the hurt and pain are still fresh. I'm not looking to jump right back into an LTR, unsurprisingly. Right now I need friends. Friends who share my love for music, and maybe gaming and other things too! And if it leads me to something deeper than friendship, all the better. But I'm taking it slow and casual for right now. My preferred genre of Metal is Melodic Death Metal, but really "melodic" anything generally does it for me. Thrash, Power, Speed, Industrial, Folk, Symphonic/Orchestral, some Doom, and even Black metal. I do love some Metalcore as well, and even a lot of what would be considered "Nu metal". I don't get why those genres get so much flack from other heavy metal fanatics. If it weren't for bands like Killswitch Engage, I might not have found myself walking down this path. Also shoutout to Fear Factory! They were the band that really locked me into that harder type of sound. Zero Signal from the original Mortal Kombat movie soundtrack? *Chef's kiss* I would say the metal that tends to resonate the least with me would be the more, general, plain "Death Metal" which is the very unintelligible kind, vocals-wise, and without a lot of melody or much structure, really. Bloodbath would be an excellent example of a more traditional Death Metal-sounding band that I DO enjoy. Listing all of the bands I love would take way too long here, but chances are unless they are really underground, I've heard of them/listened to them. If you send me a message, start it with the name of one of your favorite bands, so I'll get some idea you actually read this. ;) As for non-metal music, I also really enjoy Synthwave/New Retro Wave, Psy-trance, Industrial/Darkwave, EDM, movie/tv/game soundtracks, and some classical. Also, while I would never go so far as to say I'm a fan of Rap music, Wu-Tang Clan still ain't nuthin' to fuck with! I'm also pretty heavily into PC gaming, exclusively at this point. I loved the consoles growing up, but the PC is just so much more versatile, and not being able to mod games makes me a sad panda. My staple game these days are Final Fantasy XIV (the Online one), the Civilization franchise, Ark: Survival Evolved (Ark: Ascended and Ark II coming soon!), Valheim, Ascension, and Terraria. I'm a big fan of RPGs in general, and multiplayer/co-op especially. I'm not so much into most PVP games anymore, though I have been meaning to start playing some of my favorite fighting game franchises again soon, it's been ages and I used to be pretty good at a lot of em. Street Fighter, Mortal Kombat, Soul Calibur, Samurai Shodown, Guilty Gear and BlazBlu (awesome heavy metal soundtracks, btw), and last but not least, Tekken. Up for a match? =) Other hobbies and interests include being somewhat of a foodie, enjoying my various favorite Movies and TV shows (Sci-fi, Fantasy, Action/Martial Arts, Horror, and Documentaries being some of my faves), Anime and Manga, being a Cat Dad (3 currently), and learning about ancient/medieval history and mythology, science, and space, animals, and nature. I used to be more of an avid reader, but these days audiobooks are so much more convenient for me. I absorbed the Game of Thrones books this way. Which is one of my favorite fandoms btw. Also a huge Star Wars and Lord of the Rings nerd. I've been listening to lore podcasts about the Silmarillion most recently, and I really hope that someday someone like Peter Jackson will be able to translate it into a film or tv series worthy of its source material. |
